On Thursday, April 4 at 1:30 PM, Congressman Joe Garcia will be joined by airport officials and local business leaders to discuss the harmful impact to South Florida caused by cuts in Customs and Border Protection (CBP) officers at Miami International Airport (MIA). As it has been reported by local news outlets, long lines have resulted in up to 1,000 travelers a day missing their connecting flights at MIA. In addition, local business leaders will address how cuts in CBP cargo inspectors will hurt local businesses and South Florida's economy.
